HLT60712 Advanced diploma of ayurveda
This Ayurveda course has been designed to give students the required knowledge and skills to practice as an Ayurvedic practitioner. Students are also eligible to apply for Austudy/Abstudy assistance. During this course students will cover the theory and practical aspects of Ayurveda including constitutions, doshas, detoxification (Panchakarmas), Ayurvedic herbs, Ayurvedic Nutrition, Ayurvedic Massage and basic counselling.
Advanced Diploma of Ayurveda holders are eligible to apply for the membership of professional organisations that represent Ayurvedic practitioners. Industry associations may require additional information for eligibility of membership. Advanced Diplomas can be upgraded to a Bachelor of Health Science (Complementary Medicine) offered through Charles Sturt University.
Course Structure

It is also a requirement to complete a minimum of 400 hours of supervised clinical training. These clinical sessions are conducted and supervised by qualified practitioners at the student clinic on campus. Members of the general public may attend the clinic for a nominal fee.
Completion of this course will meet the requirements of the Nationally Recognised Training Qualification - HLT60712 Advanced Diploma of Ayurveda.

Pre-requisite units
Pre-requisite units are required to be completed prior to commencing the next level unit. Pre-requisite to the qualification - HLTIN301C Comply with infection control policies and procedures - is required before commencing HLTIN504C Manage the control of infection. HLTIN301C Comply with infection control policies and procedures can be completed as part of enrolment to the course.

Please be advised except for a few units, AIHM subjects are not offered exactly as the training package units due to its delivery style and to maintain the flow of the courses. AIHM maps the training package units against its own subjects. When students enroll on a term by term basis they will be enrolled in the AIHM subjects. This means to gain the unit of competency in the training package students may have to complete a number of AIHM subjects and in many situations clinical components as well to be able to assess and award unit of competency against training package units. Students are required to gain all the units of competencies in the training package to receive an award.
Part time students are required to enroll in biomedical science in every term and one or two other subjects depending on the workload they can handle. Full time students must make sure that they can allocate minimum of 40 hours per week hours to be successful in their studies. Students who find it difficult to spend required hours can take the course as part time students over a four year period. Students can study full time over a period of three years but still maintain full time workload ( not applicable for international students).
